Voices Of The Klondike.
Posted 5 weeks 1 day ago byThe late 1970's was not a particularly good economic time for my family and many people across the country. As a young boy I would observe my father in the way many a young boy would wonder about what it took to become a man. I could see the creases in his forehead when he came home from work, burdened by economic dynamics under which he had no control. At night, I would lay at the end of my parents bed and watch the evening business reports on television. My father took this opportunity to teach me some financial literacy, and at twelve years old
What Men Want.
Posted 6 weeks 1 day ago byI'm not easily impressed. Which is why I'm questioning my emotions regarding the Sarah Palin pick, and why I'm finding myself wanting to follow her through the gates of hell. To begin with, she is the fantasy of any man with a brainwave and a pulse. What the hell are they feeding the girls in Alaska, anyway, and can they ship it to the lower forty-eight? The mere fact that this part of the country is producing human beings of such caliber suggests we move the nation's capital to Anchorage.
Highway To Hell.
Posted 10 weeks 5 days ago byThe confidence that congress seems to have in itself in solving the problems of the American people borders on the paranormal. They continually pass laws to try and adjust the behavior of society instead of passing laws based on the behaviors themselves. Instead of harnessing America in order to produce, they harness America in order to punish. It never works.
With Six (billion) You Get Eggroll.
Posted 10 weeks 6 days ago byI'm boycotting the Olympic games.
I get a variety of reactions from others on my decision, most notably from people who know me best. My friends mostly view me as a type of jingoist, a flag waver, a defender of the faith; So it confused them when I turned sour on the games. My liberal friends, the ones who weep at the bravery of a candidate who doesn't wear a flag pin, or an athlete who turns his back during the National Anthem, are absolutely incensed that I won't watch the games. Socialist logic, I guess.
The Two Americas Of John Edwards And The L.A. Times.
Posted 11 weeks 2 days ago byI'm going to apologize ahead of time for the lack of nuance in what I'm about to write.
John Edwards is a scumbag. As a resident of Charlotte, N.C., I will ask the reader to give me some leeway in my prose, as I've been spoon-fed this redneck ,.O.B for years and have absolutely had my fill. This has been a long day coming for a man who I consider to be void of any character or moral composition.
More Oil, Less Democrats.
Posted 11 weeks 3 days ago byI'm convinced that the Democratic controlled congress, along with many limp-wristed Republicans, need to register themselves with the government as foreign agents. How else to explain their apparent desire to assist the governments of Russia and China in exploiting oil deposits in America's back yard?
A Little Diddy...About Supply-Side Economics.
Posted 11 weeks 4 days ago byI have a store ( the government ) that sells eggs. At a dollar an egg I sell a hundred eggs the first week. The second week I cut the price of an egg to 85 cents. The number of eggs I sell increases to 140. Have I done the right thing? By the fourth week my egg sales have remained constant at 140, but now my customers, ( the taxpayers ) who have saved fifteen cents on each egg purchased, are asking me if there is some bacon for sale to go along with the eggs.
The Tortoise And The Hare.
Posted 11 weeks 5 days ago byAs Obama acts out a new role as Holy Roman Emperor at the Brandenburg gate, back in this country where the actual election takes place, a funny thing has happened. McCain is leading in Ohio.
Donkeys That Don't Kick.
Posted 11 weeks 6 days ago byAlas, Democrats are starting to smell an American victory in Iraq. Liberals are like the Russians declaring war on Japan in the late spring of 1945-- late to the fight and full of pomp and circumstance. Fifty years from now, when Baghdad is hosting the Olympic games, how will Democrats convince the American public they were a "full partner" in liberating the country?
