Topic of the Day: PALIN AND WHY THE BIG DEAL ABOUT HER AS VP
Posted 8 weeks 2 days ago byI can only speak for myself. I understand there are many of you that are in favor of her. The beef I have with her and not the others, is the sheer fact is she may be able to govern Alaska, a state which is mostly polar bears, wolves; a place where the government pays you to live there because most don't want to; but we have all seen her. From the very first speech, a speech of which she dazzled most with her wit, then continued on like a broken record repeating herself. Followed by three national interviews which did not go well because it was unrehearsed and then the debate of which she picked and choose what SHE wanted to talk about of which was completely scripted. Before you crucify me on this one, ask yourself this, do you want a VP who needs to be scripted? What happens if god forbid this woman gets as far as President. It is NOT about experience, it is about EXPERIENCE. She has been pretty much sheltered in her state, but when it comes to the real world, she does not have a clue. I don't want anymore puppet Presidents, I want one who can lead. I want a President who does not have to be scripted.
A woman in office is huge. It just makes me wonder why did McCain pick her. We all know that reason whether you are a republican or not. She does not fit the bill and for anyone to think otherwise, that is what scares me.She is completely arrogant, if not more than Obama; she is doing nothing but playing dirty politics now which will cost her the election. We don't want to hear how she makes her mud, we want to hear what she is going to do to get us out of a bad economy, the war, lower gas prices. She has NEVER ONCE answered any of the questions.
In closing, we all know that Obama is going to win like it or not. I personally don't like it. Why on earth did he choose Joe Biden for his VP? That was a bad choice for his first choice as nominee. Aren't you tired of all the bad choices. Lord knows we make enough of them on our own. Do we really need our politicians to do the same where our lives are concerned?

Obama is just the next puppet
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by John 2000puppeteers are just one big happy family taking turns slapping America silly.
Cheney not Bush
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by CORNFINGER66No Bush was not smart enough to pull it off, but Cheney and Rove where.
Bush has been the puppet all along.
The biggest problem now is that we don't have a viable canidate worth voteing for.
Hopefully the people pulling the strings, will not be as crooked as the last puppet masters.
did I say that?
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by Grains of SaltDo Ihave you feared too? The W must rub off.

What is so sad
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by AnonymousWhat is so sad that Palin is more qualified than Obama yet everyone hates her because she is from a large state with few people.
No other reason than that. The hate for Palin is because she represents the far right.
They can not stand a far right woman who happens to be a governor. She has the same experience as Regan, the two Bushes, Clinton, Carter, FDR, Teddy Roosevelt and Wilson along with a few others.
She is qualified. The truth is that Obama says I bring change and hope yet Obama has no clue what that change and hope is.
Its a phrase out of his damn Book! He said in his book Dreams of my father that he had no clue about the issues buy promoted the idea of hope and change which people were willing to follow blindly.
Enough said.
Feared? is that a word?
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by rom12921If not outsmarted, then you were easily manipulated by your emotions? I think it is one in the same. Smart enough to use emotions (House,Senate,UN) against them. Can you see why I don't think it is good to make decisions on emotion?
The intense negative emotion/ rage against Gov Palin seems to drive some voting decisions as well.
Apparently you have not read the Authorization to use Force law. WMD's are referred to in past tense only; Iraq "had" them was justification enough and no link between Al-Quaida and Iraq was mentioned.
Exact same foreign policy as Bush43, Clinton, Bush41, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, LBJ, Kennedy? Senator Obama will continue foreign meddling, just read his website. Also, this editorial mentions Carter policies which IMO has some similarity.

Outsmarted? No
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by Grains of SaltFeared us all into it? I think so. Connecting Iraq to 9-11 (again, we have reports of people saying they were TOLD to find a link)is using fear to ellicit a response. That's also called terrorism. No link, no wmds. Thousands dead. Billions spent. I now I'm asked to vote for someone who follows the exact foreign policy as W.
Can I quote The Who?
"Get on your knees and pray...we don't get fooled again."
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by rom12921As long as you recognize it's a bet and not provable evidence - speculation. So "the idiot", as referred to on RBA, fooled the UN, House, Senate and the whole country into supporting his cause? Are you suggesting President Bush outsmarted every legislator and just about everyone else?
Speculation is fun.
While I do not agree with the foreign policy of the Bush Administration (Iraq not necessary), I will respect the President. Same goes for President Obama.
GRAINS
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by Skye RiversI agree with you. This war was destined. Bush just needed a vehicle of which to launch it. Was Sadamn Insane a nut job.. hell yeah... was it for us to say whether he lived or died for all the crimes he committed. I can't answer that question. That is one of those soul searches that continues to move through my spirit with still no answers.
This was a war of Revenge between the BUSHWACKS AND THE INSANES... It is not secret that the BUSH's are in tied with the Bin Laden's. He knows where he is, come on. They all know, but there is a thing called political illuminati. They have him hidden so well, that even a truffle pig couldn't find him. That is the bottom line.
Again I feel terrible about that remark I made about Palin. I was so upset yesterday with the stocks, the global banking I just let loose. It was uncalled for, though, I don't trust her and she is a pig the only difference is between her and one that lives in the mud, is she wears lipstick. :)
Accept?
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by Grains of SaltIs that the same "tolerate"? Which people did you mean for me to accept. Bush? Cheney? Another poster? I can respect posters and their opinions. This admin? NO WAY.
I will bet my life on the fact that they KNEW the intelegiance was faulty. He Told his people to FIND SOMETHING. Bush was planning this war before 9-11. Like the oportunist that he is, he used you, me and the House to think it was nesecary to divert troops and money away from Bin Laden.
My father in law (the most concervative man I know) was a foreman at a tank plant. There was much moevement in the plants prior to 9-11. There was no talk from above, of course, but everyone knew where those tanks were going. He was going to get us in there no matter what.
I didn't like Bush in 2000. I hate him now.
I don't trust Palin. She annoys me, but that's not it. I disagree with her views and I know she doesn't have what it takes. Governor or not, she doesn't have it. She reminds me too much of someone else.
You, Rom, I'll gladly accept :)
hunch
Submitted on October 7th, 2008 by rom12921GOS thanks for confirming. Well if someone annoys you I suppose it's OK to hate them, their family for a couple generations. Write whatever you want about them.
Nobody stole your money or let troops die for their cause (demonstrating lying?). When Public Law 107-243 was passed by bi-partisan vote it was the executives duty to carry out the law. You are attacking the people and ignoring what is written in the Law, UN resolutions and findings from the Senate Intelligence committee. So if you are right, that means the UN , House & Senate in 2002, Pres Bush, Senate Intelligence comittee in 2007 are wrong. Doubtful.
There's a nastiness that comes out among people in election cycles. Somehow people feel personally threatened by other people with firm convictions different than their own. People who abandon reason and let negative emotions get the best of them do not make good decisions, thus Obama.
Why can't you accept people for who they are?
Hey
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Skye RiversMY BAD.. I do apologize for the crass comment. I must have by passed that when I re read my own blog. SHNS already deleted that part. I can't find it to delete it. Thank you for pointing that out guys..
GOS has a point
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by IronguyI was committing on the Vag joke by the way. I thought it was funny too but it was cold blooded. GOS is right, I feel the same way as he does. I didn't like Bush in 2000 either. He was the reason I became a Democrat. Once he got into the presidency I thought nothing of it. Until 9/11 hit and America went down hill from then on. She is giving off those vibes too...
I don't agree with Obama on everything. Like giving out more cash to IMF or more foreign aid. Personally I think it's important that we contribute to the world, It's just a bad time to do it now. No politician is perfect. Even I was a little put off by his pasture. That was kinda offset by McCain's preacher. Have we forgot God? Have our religious leaders forgot God? I hope not...

Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Grains of SaltI think it was the Vagina comment. I laughed but, you know.
Anyway, Rom, I hated Bush when he ran in 2000. He's not a women. He's a horible, destructive president. I had the hunch then and I was right, and he doen't have a vagina. I have that hunch now. Just as strong. The voice simply anoys me. The words within the voice scare me. Cheney has a dick and he is one. There's some more hate for you. Every politician I have seen has lied to my face. Those two did it while stealing my money and letting our troops die for their cause. I'm allowed to hate them both, and be very patriotic while doing so.
Why the destructive headlines? Really? I'll tell you why. America has done that to our celebrities since the begining of time. We hold them up and can't wait to knock them down. She's the biggest Celeb there is. More google searches than anyone. Eye glasses sold out at stores. That's the way it goes. Don't like the spotlight? Don't blow kisses on TV.
Have all of you
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Skye Riverslost your minds. What on earth did I say to have you crucify me?
It was truth.
I don't hate Palin.
I do not feel she is worthy of position of VP. ACTUALLY, none of them are worthy of any of the positions.
She has me very worried. She is very rehearsed. She is playing dirty politics (not that they all aren't.)
I wanted Hillary, but because Hillary is not on the ticket, that does not mean I am a woman hater or a cold hearted political bitch. The difference between me and a lot of you on here, I am willing to admit if I am wrong; I am willing to look at all sides and I am not one sided in whom I feel would make a better candidate. But come on... the writing with Governor Palin is on the wall. There is something very wrong with this picture. It's like she came out of the gate running hard and fast, dazzled everyone with her brilliance which then became baffling everyone with her BS and I don't mean bachelor degrees and it went from same ole same ole with every breaking speech, to her big defining moment at the debate where she decided what she would talk about and her arrogance rang through. I am NOT the only one who saw it or feels this way.
At this point, I am very concerned about the market and my investments then being entertained by Palin and the Mug Slinging Circus which ALL OF THEM are a part of.
So if you feel I was cold, I am sorry, but I re read my blog and cold is not what I read into it, more like honest truth.
Point out to me why you feel the way you do.. I am NOT rageful, I am saddened at the fact this is slim pickins for our nation. I have no venom, I have tears of despair that this is what we have come to.
Palin is cute, and funny, but if I wanted cute and funny I would go to the zoo, or wait, this election is nothing less than a freak show and an embarrassment for our country. Added with this latest bail out misfortune we are really screwed. So if you want to point fingers, I am not the one to be pointing them at.
Rice is more qualified, not the VP nominee
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by rom12921No hate? please explain the negative headlines and stories about Palin over the last 30 days. More negative stories have been written about the Republican VP nominee in 30 days than Senator Obama this year (John Lott Fox news).
Maybe we should crucify her for he Midwestern/Canadian sounding enuncuiations. Or boil her in oil for winking. Tar & feather for not knowing which supreme court case she most disagrees with.
There is something about the woman that enrages certain people. It is a unique phenomenon. I think it is something deeper than policy and procedure, what a VP does or who'd be a better nominee.
No...
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by IronguyIt's not that America hates women rom. I'm a democrat and have bounced back and forth for and against Hilary, so I should know. I wouldn't be at such a vice like this had McCain picked someone more reliable than her. Condaleeza Rice is far more prepared to hold such a spot than she ever will be. What you are saying, is that she is more than qualified to hold this spot. I just don't see that, nor does most of America.
She does act very similar to W. Hence why people are just so... hesitant to to trust her with the nation. You saw the interviews and the debate. She even implied the VP has a LOT of power in congress... I don't consider breaking ties in congress a lot of power. Maybe she does but still.

Skye the Sarahslayer
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by rom12921articulates rage and hate-filled venom toward Palin. I am perplexed by the treatment of the VP nominee. I have never seen this degree of hatred versus any other public figure, especially somone who does not hold national office. Spiro Agnew and Nixon were treated with more kindness.
Man do we hate women in this country or what? Sharia Law may be a hit.
Skye Rivers that was cold
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by IronguyEveryone here knows I'm a democrat, but even I wouldn't go that far to say that about her. I got to say this though. I really have to ask what McCain was thinking when he picked her. If it was just because she was a women (God I hope not) than he picked the worst one out of the bunch.
I refuse to believe she was the most experienced conservative woman in the GOP. I have more faith in Condoleezza rice than her. If McCain had to pick a women, at least her.
Even then, he would have been better off with Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee or even Dick Cheney. Personally I think Ron Paul was the real maverick of the group. If McCain ever was one, or Palin even, they aren't now.

You're onto something, Corn
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Grains of SaltMaybe she's more ready than we thought!
VP?
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by CORNFINGER66Mrs. Palin is already acting like a VP, in the mold of the Dick Cheney.
She was for the investiagtion of Troopergate, untill she got nominated. Not she will not answer questions. Also she is asking that anyone else involved to stonewall.
Maybe she hung out with the Dick one day at the White House, for some training.
What happens in the White House, Stays in the White House.
I won't go there..
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Grains of SaltBut I'll admit there is a level of W there.
Listen to W debate Gore.
"It's true, I'm not of Washington"
They both liked that claim, it makes them better than the oppenent who is, right?
He had experience as Governor of a large state, didn't he?
He talked on our level just like us, didn't he?
He was not that great talking off the cuff but he was a straight shooter that you love to hang with at your back yard BBQ, wasn't he?
These, my friends, were the charecteristics that made less than half of America feel comfortable enough to vote him in.
That card has been played, and it's comfort gone.
Heres the deal
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Skye Riversshe is NOT going to win anyway... SHE is a waste of time and a life support system for a vagina.
Don't be fooled again
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by kevinkindYour description of Sarah Palin is exact in every facet. She comes across as a likable enough person who in reality is not qualified to lead our nation through this time of real desperation brought down on us by the party politics and policies she represents. Sarah Palin is "W" all over again.

Sara Padin
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by ajamoThank you you have answered the question I have asked before.
Who is Sara Padin? We know she like to pass the crap, and she and John live in a glass house and starting to throw the crap instead of talking issues.
The will be held accountable for it I'm sure someone will dig up their past and get it out there soon.
