THE BIG DAY HAS ARRIVED: BIDEN/PALIN DEBATE
Posted 6 weeks 4 days ago byI don't know about you, but I have been waiting with baited breath for this one. We all know what has been said regarding this debate from the media, but what I want to hear is what YOU have to say. How do you feel this will all go down and how well do you feel each candidate will do.

Submitted on October 9th, 2008 by Grains of SaltThe G hit strong around 48%. There was one point where I thought she winked but then she reached up and moved some hair out of her eyes. That was a close one.
Great minds think alike. Last year I was a drunken taxpayer, occasionaly obnoxious and always superficial.
Wish we were going to the same party. My wife and I are thinking of a home-made costume too:
Mavrick Man and his side-kick The Catch-Phrase Kid. She's already got the sexy specs. I would post pics but I don't think RBA could handle that much reform.
Say it isn't so.
Submitted on October 9th, 2008 by rom12921Doggoneit, I missed it.
Would you say the G enunciation is between 45-49%. Not one wink? Are you sure? What was she wearing?
I think I'll be a superhero for Halloween SUPER -ficial. My other costumes, obnoxious drunk and disgruntled taxpayer, didn't go over so well.

Submitted on October 9th, 2008 by Grains of SaltI had to write and tell you that I watched Faux News last night.
Greta Von Facelift was lobbing meatballs at Princess Palin and I paid very close attention. Being under no distress with a friend like Greta and having no one to be condesending to there was not one you betcha, no winks, and she pronounced almost half of the Gs. No doggones, no blessn' ther hearts. Not a gosh darn all night. What happened? She's not one of us anymore. She found out that she's realated to Di and Kevin Bacon and decided she had to turn off the dumb faucet. (I know you liked that one) What happened to the Peoples Princess?

Submitted on October 8th, 2008 by BeoBeauty is in the eye of the beholder. Actually, Biden's wife is quite attractive. Some think that Michelle is, although, after her remarks, I could never find her attractive. That's just me. I can't believe I am even discussing this. LOL I think we are all just tired of the mundane and have relinquished to the superficialities of life. It is more uplifting than thinking of the reality: an economic disaster and a potential president that, either way, I won't be thrilled.

Remember Teresa Hines Ketchup?
People couldn't stop talking about her.
And I can see why he left his first wife for Cindy. That and the money.
Beo, Problem with Superficial?
Submitted on October 8th, 2008 by rom12921I think our choices are socialism (Obama/Biden) or Socialism- lite(McCain/Palin).
I wrote in a recent blog, I think I'll vote for McCain because Cindy McCain and Sarah Palin are better looking than the wives of Obiden.

Come on, Beo
Submitted on October 8th, 2008 by Grains of SaltI'm not that critical. I love the hair and glasses. Love it. That's the image she wants to portray and I love it. My wife is on course to "hold up" as well as Sarah and I'm blessed for that.
The voice, super annoying. Sorry if that's superficial but, nails on the chalk board.
Not one of these personal qualities distract from the fact that this month, for seemingly the first time ever, she has taken an interest in what goes on outside of Alaska.
Cute as hell though.
GOS
Submitted on October 8th, 2008 by BeoYou are always so critical of her personal qualities...her voice, her hair, her accent, her glasses. Makes me think that maybe you are a bit jealous or else very superficial.

GOS, turn on the "dumb" faucet? Perhaps she should talk with a British accent? Your assertions of intentional enunciations and mannerisms are not supported by interview from the past.
What is your real concern here?
I'm suggesting..
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Grains of SaltThat she can turn on the dumb faucet when she wants to. You didn't have to bring up McCain there. He can raise his arms up just enough to Give the W a big hug!
Farse and you know it.
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by rom12921Gov Palin, (before Gov.) had the same "you betcha" midwestern vowel enunciation when interviewed after a snowmobile race in the mid-90's. Are you suggesting she's been faking it for 14 years? Maybe McCain is faking his injuries?
I agree
Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Skye RiversI have seen that too with Odrama. He really studied MLK well and MLK was a serious idol of his as a child.

Submitted on October 6th, 2008 by Grains of SaltAre you kidding me? Are you calling that White women dialect? Is that what that Phoney "I'm joe six pack" nonsense is called? White Women Dialect?
She is USING that stupid crap to sound just like you and me? I'm not buying it. I AM allowed to call it unprofesional as are the winks and blown kisses. My Wife. Who is both white AND a women was extremely annoyed with Palin for these reasons as well.
It's a farse and you know it. She pulls that phoney "dialect" out when she thinks she's making a point or a jab at an oppenent. Don't kid yourself, Beo.
That crap has been used before. Do you think I have to accept it and believe that's who she is?

Actually the dialect issue is kind of interesting as most speech in the US has become more homogenized over the last few decades.

Palin/Biden
Submitted on October 5th, 2008 by AnonymousWatching the debate made me realize something, it seemed like as if Palin was just trying to convince people that she needed to be taken seriously while Biden was actually trying to be VP. lol!
Beo
Submitted on October 4th, 2008 by Grains of SaltGood calls. We should put in a request to Obama to consider Palin to be on his energy advisory board.
GOS and HAm
Submitted on October 4th, 2008 by BeoGood discussion here. Look at what we have in washington now. We can't do any worse. As far as what do VP's know..Biden has been at it for years and he made mistakes about Lebanon. His history is off...even I knew that Hoover was president in 1929 and that there were no television sets. He made a great blunder when he thought that Iraq should be cut up into 3 countries. My own history tells me that one of the causes of the first Gulf War was that Iraq felt that it was entitled to the oil fields in Kuwait because Kuwait was once part of Iraq. The British divided Kuwait from Iraq. So I do not think Biden is all that smart. He also has some very suspicious deals with credit card companies.
And what about Obama. He has good elocution. He can memorize talking points. He can CHANGE his mind with the best of them. He has a couple of years to hone his talking points, a few years that he could have been practicing at his job as Senator so that he would actually have some real experience. I have noticed that Obama stays above the fray on matters and when he sees which way the wind is blowing, he comes out with a statement, or generally a criticism of the other guys who are actually rolling their sleeves up looking for solutions.
Bottom line here is that no President or vice president can be skilled in all areas. They all have to rely on advisors and cabinet people. Palin is skilled in managing and working with oil companies and other energy entities. She brings this to the table and it is important. Energy might just be the lifeblood of this country. It will create jobs for Americans, it will create a need for tools in our factories etc. I would not overlook her talents. Obama was a community leader who I will admit used his past acquaintances in ACORN to organize his voting registration. How honest and obove board this registration is, is very questionable in my mind.

Submitted on October 4th, 2008 by Grains of SaltFrom the things you listed about Sarah, it sounds like you and I have a shot at the VP gig too. I would be willing to bet that she makes a little more money than I do. You don't have to pretend that Joe and Barack grew up as well off as John. Being Joe six pack does not make you qualified, Ham.
And you want to tell me that she'll learn on the job? With the knowledge deficit that she showed she's going to learn it all on the job? Who's her teacher going to be? How much time does she have to cram for her presidential test? Scarey!!!!
Of the last election, history repeats... Fill me in there. Why do you say that. I'm not fimiliar enough with history but I'm curious. Send your reply to Sarah also, I'm sure she has to learn this part also.
Come on Brother
Submitted on October 4th, 2008 by HamiltonYou don’t like her because she doesn’t sound like what you are used to? You are right about that, she is not a career politician like the rest. You say she doesn’t have enough knowledge, I say she has more real knowledge than anybody in Washington and politics. She has paid for her own gas, and pumped her own gas…she understands what these high gas prices are doing to real people and real business. She has gone to the store and bought her own groceries, she knows what it’s like to stretch a budget and feed the family. She has set at the dining room table with her husband and worried over which bills can be paid this month and what has to put off until next month. She has had sleepless nights worrying about how to pay for college and if her kids will be okay at school. Not the Nanny, not the assistant…her and her husband. She was raised by public school unionize teachers; she has real values and real patriotism. She can, has and will learn the rest; she still has a chance to do it (govern) for the right reasons. Has far as voting out the dems next time…well, if history continues to repeat itself; this will be the last election in this country, at least without bloodshed.

Submitted on October 3rd, 2008 by John 2000Sister Sarah will be back up in Alaska. She will have left her two mules, McCain and Lieberman, to their bones to bleach in the land of make believe you are running for president.
No matter what you say or think GOS she is better than all the damn fools, thieves, and liars in Washington.
Still disagree
Submitted on October 3rd, 2008 by Grains of SaltAnd don't aploogize, Ham. I don't take offense to your beliefs. Got to tell ya though, I did not like what I saw in Palin. When it comes to "facts" and what I mean is stating numbers and who voted for what and how many times...etc.. It's all lies, both of them. Obama didn't raise taxes 94 times like she said. McCain didn't vote against health care like he said. They screw with numbers and hope you believe it. They both did. They all do. I can see it, and admit it. I hope you can too.
She is consevative. That's the reason you like her. There are many other conservatives out there and I KNOW you would rather have someone other than her.
Were you listening to her answers? How smart do you think she is? I saw very little knowledge there on any topic.
Telling Joe -"Doggone it, Joe, there ya go again talkin'bout the past" Please. Woman, it is called history - it is from history that we learn. We learn from our mistakes and our success. History and current affairs is something that she has PROVEN to know next to nothing about. I don't know what part of that debate made you think she was smart. I don't expect her to know as much as Biden. But it was clear to me that she knew next to nothing other than what she was told to say. Was Biden preped, yes. It looked like he was preped on How to say things, as opposed to " now this is what the VP does" and so forth. She may be the best prom queen Wassilla High has ever had. She may be Alaskas Best Governor. But VP. Please.
Experience running a state with zero knowledge of world affairs vs knowledge of many issues outside of Alaska? She scares me. All the "doggone its" and winks and "golly gees" and "I'm joe six pack" does NOT make me feel comfortable with her at the wheel. No Sir.
I don't expect this congress to have much longer of a run. If Obama wins, I will vote republicans in (if worthy). He will not be able to push what you will call his "socialist agenda." Given that her chance of being president is 1-5, and she holds Cheneys view of the position of VP. she WILL be more destructive than anything you can imagine Obama getting away with. Gosh darn it Ham!

Black Friday
Submitted on October 3rd, 2008 by HamiltonYou’re wrong GOS, Sarah Palin is a strong, smart American woman. She is a mother, wife and accomplished statesperson. Old Joe is a corrupt life-long professional American politician. All the knowledge in the world makes no difference if it’s all wrong. Old Joe stood before millions and millions of Americans and outright lied. He lied about the rope-line; I heard and saw that one myself; he lied. He outright lied about Obama’s promise to meet with Iran; I saw and heard that one as well, he lied. Either he was lying during the primaries when he swore that Obama was far from being ready and able to be president, or he’s lying right now. He was either lying when he said he would be honored to be on the same ticket with John McCain or he is lying now. Whatever the case he is a liar and a very good one; almost as good as his boss. He looked into the eyes of America and lied, he talked about the death of his wife and children and that my friend (I mean that) was the only truth Old Joe spoke all-night. Sarah Palin did not lie, she did not have to…she is an ultra-conservative American Governor. She has not been in Washington long enough to be corrupted; that in and of itself makes her head and shoulders better than anybody else in this campaign. She doesn’t speak Washington, she speak American, of course she prepared; so did Biden and Obama has been prepped for two years, he has no experience from which to learn…he has been taught, created if you will by handlers, much as what is happening now to Sarah Palin. Your argument about a lack of knowledge just doesn’t flush…saying that with as much respect as possible…I’ll say this; this election doesn’t really matter. It’s about not the candidate any longer (if it ever was). The media and the left has seceded the constitution; Democracy and freedom is dead. You guys win; morality, responsibility, self-reliance, freedom, prosperity and independence are all just archaic terms gone forever from America speak. GOS, I am sorry, I don’t mean you of course, I don’t doubt your personal love of this country but there are millions of motives I can’t understand. Black Friday…socialism; I am sad, it makes me want to weep…for what once was, what is and what will never be again.

Submitted on October 3rd, 2008 by BeoJohn, you are right the Maverick brand is getting overworked. The pundits now are saying that Palin just memorized the material and she was well prepped. Why don't they say that about Obama when he does well. Obama has been fed information and prepped for months now. But, alas, when he speaks it is portrayed as skill and experience which he does not have. Biden also was prepped and he practiced like all pols do before a debate. So now they are using that against her. If she didn't do well they would have said that she wasn't smart enough to prepare. Sarah is right about the media and I am glad that she is aware that she cannot win them over. They are so in the tank for Obama, that they should not call themselves journalists.
Biden just ran at the mouth
Submitted on October 3rd, 2008 by janmbBiden just ran at the mouth with an overkill of details trying to prove how much he knows so I'm sure he lost the audience several times. Some good points came through however so it wasn't a total disaster. He's been around for awhile so most were interested in Palin anyway.
Palin proved she's no BIMBO or DUMB for example, Bill Maher can't stop his rants against her like a male who was rejected.
As expected, Palin has faced much the same kind of sexism that Hillary had to endure and that seems to be the tradition now for women who go for leadership positions. The male politicians never suffer as much-- i.e.-( have you watched SNL or the comedy channels or late night hosts or even the daytime media ? )
The people who liked her probably liked her even more and people who didn't like her disliked her even more.
I hadn't planned to watch this debate but couldn't stop myself. Wish I had.

Submitted on October 2nd, 2008 by John 2000she handled the thing very artfully and even charmed Biden a few times. She wisely avoided a few answers where landmines might lay and time and time again pressed the basic attack.
I caught Joe in a few obvious provable lies (Obama dogma) which I hope get back to when I review the debate.
I am geting a little weary of too much usage of the 'maverick' term ... maybe once or twice is okay ... but keep away from nine or ten.

Submitted on October 2nd, 2008 by BeoIf Sarah relaxes and the moderator is a professional, Sarah might do ok. Although, No matter how well she does the spinmasters will start their negative comments on it. Personally, I think she needs to hammer away at Obama and Biden. She needs to show a command of the issues and be aggressive in her attacks. She also needs to respond with sarcasm if necessary because she is good at that. She also has to challenge the moderator if she gets Couric'd. In other words, her answer to Couric after she was brow beaten should have been a counter attack. She should have said" Katie, I answered your question, the fact that McCain presented a bill to Congress forewarning them of the impending disaster, is all the American people need to know. How he voted in 1980 is not relevant to the question you asked on the financial disaster."
