Topic of the Day: Proposition 8
Posted 8 weeks 4 days ago byShould people outside a jurisdiction be allowed to make political contributions to sway a proposed ruling in that state?
In California, debate is raging over Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that would ban gay marriage by amending the state constitution. Support for the ban seems to be waning, but that's not keeping millions of dollars from flowing into the state supporting both side of the issue. Apparently, even Brad Pitt is getting in on the game (but he lives in L.A when he's not out adopting children, right?)
Is that fair?

But I'm sure the 9th Circuit Court would rule that is discriminatory or something like that.
And yes, they do have a long and proud history of overruling the will of the people.
Gotta love CA!

Men (and women) in Black

No

Just like non-US citizens shouldn't be allowed to contribute to the national election. There should be a law against it.
I normally I default to getting rid of laws rather than making new ones but if a law limits government money or power I am for it.
