Sarah Palin: Gender Politics and Weakness
Posted 13 weeks 5 days ago byOk, I will drink the cool-aid...McCain has finally made me drink it. I will vote for Barack Obama.
Anyone who knows my blog knows how much I have railed against Sen. Obama and mostly for one reason: His insurmountable inexperience and the cult of the personality surrounding him. Then Sen. McCain goes ahead and names an unknown with even less experience than Sen. Obama! For God's sakes she was elected Governor in 2006! Worse, considering McCain's age she is set to be the next leader of the Republican Party! This is why I am an independent.
The message was clear here...she can get women to leave the Democratic party and vote Republican. Forget about qualififactions. Same thing we have with Sen. Obama. A Pres. and VP should be strong and made of steel. This choice is politically expedient but a disaster for the nation. She is weak and evidently so.
Well, I find myself without a ticket I love and that's not new. I will hold my nose and vote for Obama this Novemver. I will go home and disinfect myself. Inexperience in both tickets and a woman in a ticket just because she is a woman....her very presence in the ticket is because of her gender. At least Obama has good rhetorical skills.
Obama now or Palin in the future. My stomach hurts....I will drink the cool-aid. In one swoop McCain has lost my vote.

Educate people? Start with yourself
Submitted on September 2nd, 2008 by rom12921"...they have only their pockets to fill and to put our young and poor men and women in harms way" Strongly suggest you read the Public Law authorizing the use of force before repeating this false statement.

"...taxes on people who make less than probably $150,000 a yr will go up..." This puts more wealth in the hands of government. If you review Obama's issues, he advocates large scale gov't programs in energy, health care, etc. Essentially making them gov't sponsored enterprise. Please read up on Socialism, you'll find this meets the definition.
"We need to get solar power, wind power ..." Private business will do this if profitable. Why do you think oil companies providing thousands of jobs is wrong or evil, but alternatives ok?
"We need to educate our people, because frankly EDUCATION is the answer to Everything." Government run schools for the last 50 years have made allowed our standards to fall and put a whole generation at a competitive disadvantage.
"...there way more dems than repubs and Good shall overcome EVIL" You are making a value judgement (hopefully in jest) which is typically polarizing at best.
Please take your own advice. "Get your facts buddy"
Get the facts - pleeez !
Submitted on September 2nd, 2008 by AnonymousMr .Obama has worked in local govt. for the 6-8 yrs before being elected to the Senate. Where did Ms. Palin work oh... Nowhere she was making babies. He has been working for a large populated area with many on both side of the coin, for a successful record of pleasing both sides. And Ms. Palin ..... threatening people who wont fire her sister in laws ex-husband, then firing them for no reason! Oh yes and she has FIVE children, who apparently she can't raise well since the 17 yr old is unmarried and pregnant ! So you seriously want this person who had only less than 2 yrs experience in total in an area that has less than 7,000 residents to govern a country with over 300,000,000 ?! Get real .....I am a female and Clinton women will Not vote for this person, and certainly not just because she is a woman, how insulting! So this is a decision that McSame has made that is horrible and just foreshadows the decisions he would make as pres.... so if he is playing with a full deck I am Mother Teresa !!
Not so ~
Submitted on September 2nd, 2008 by AnonymousHis background shows his experience for at least a decade working with people of numerous incomes, crossing the aisle in the Senate many times also to work out fair solutions that were held back by bi-partisan politicing ! Get your facts buddy ....He is not a socialist nor has the same ideals or reasoning as the Reverend either. He is strong, caring, extremely intelligent and feels just like most of us that we have been cuckolded by the Bushwacky/republicans for 8 yrs and they have only their pockets to fill and to put our young and poor men and women in harms way ( and with defective armor, vehicles and protections, to boot - cuz it might cost some more of their money to give them safe vehicles... but I digress) The taxes on people who make less than probably $150,000 a yr will go up a little (less than $2,000 or close to it per year-wow how awful, not really! more like Big dam deal)And those who have been given large tax right-offs like oil companies and other companies who do not need it anyway, will not get as much help. This is BEST for our country and BEST for ALL of US ! We need to get solar power, wind power and other energy that is safer for us and the planet working, this will provide thousands and thousands of new jobs ! We need to educate our people, because frankly EDUCATION is the answer to Everything - it will nearly eliminate poverty, crime and discrimination,in my humble opinion. And only the Republicans are AFRAID to educate the people because they might get smart and see through the repubs despicable and harmful policies !! Face it there way more dems than repubs and Good shall overcome EVIL ~
Re: This VP Pick Does Matter

I hope Senator Biden lives to be over 100, but he has underwent two major brain surgeries in his adult life for near fatal brain aneurysms.
No one is promised tomorrow, I am not getting this what if someone dies concern.
Very smart people that do this vote projection thing for a living have concluded that two rich, politically tenured men are not going to win the Presidential race for the GOP this time around.
Heck I like Mitt Romney as a Presidential candidate better than John McCain, but the two on the same ticket is a loser.
If you can not get over this, and want higher taxes, a less secure America, a President that can't think for himself and lacks any form of integrity (sorry has been proven over and over), then be done with it and vote for Senator Obama.
Your Blogs and Posts are appreciated.
Fred, you seem to be quite confused
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by John 2000as if you believe for one moment that Romney or Huckabee are even marginal conservative. Neither of them had a prayer of having McCain win. You label yourself 'republican' and 'independent' and then call Roosevelt the quasi-socialist the best? You seem a bit ripe for Obama koolaid, so just do it.
Maybe McCain/Palin won't win. But I think she comes very close to representing the core conservative principles of smaller less corrupt government which we have so entrenched in both the D and the R. To me the risk of voting for a guaranteed socialist with O is worth the risk. McCain had the guts to take this risk, and you seem to have the guts to cut and run. Sorry to lose you so easily. Hope you come back.
She is better qualified
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by koolmom21Any one could die at any time. If Sen. Obama died we would have a real nightmare-Biden-SORRY-if Sen. Obama wins either way-we lose! I do not trust Sen. Obama. He is a radical black theology member just like Rev. Wright.
Sen. McCain's V.P. pick did not change my vote but sure made me happier because a strong women was his pick!!!
Sarah Palin is NOT another wimpy Dan Quayle far from it. Do your research. She is better qualified then Sen. Obama!
This VP Pick Does Matter
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by praetorianMay God give Sen. McCain a very long life, but he has had the most serious form of melanoma. His VP was supposed to be ready and a future leader of that GOP (yeah right). This is Dan Quayle all over again. I can't wait till Biden tears her apart. This is the big leagues and she needs to go back to Alaska. Hopefully, this will just show the talent and true grit of experienced conservatives like Romney and Huckabee in 2012.
"mccain picks a jewish woman soccer mom"
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by AnonymousPalin isn't Jewish, she's a non-denominational Christian. I liked this site better when it had moderators. People should think carefully, check their facts (not to mention spelling -- looking at you, Pablo), and re-read their posts before clicking the "submit" button.
If the VP choice
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by Respectfulguestis that important to you and you believe Senator McCain's choice for VP is that poor, then vote for Senator Obama.
To me the main comparison must be between the Presidential nominees' ideology, integrity and experience.
What if scenarios can be played with anything in life. This much I do know, if something hypothetically happened to Senator Obama (hope lives long healthy life), I certainly do not want Joe Biden running the country. After 36 years in the Senate, there is a reason he only received 5,000 votes in Iowa and dropped out of the Presidential race before it got started... he is not considered an effective leader.
When all's said and done take away the fireworks, movie stars and tele-prompter from Senator Obama and make him respond to difficult questions from the heart without rehearsed answers (ie Saddleback Forum) and you have a shell of the man we saw deliver the speeches in Germany and Denver. That to me is much scarier than Governor Palin as VP.
palin
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by Anonymousso we have sworn enemies that want the US and Israel destroyed. and mccain picks a jewish woman soccer mom with no military experience and little/if any, foreign affairs experience. way to go. and that's why they see us as weak. and it's funny how men don't want women lording over them in thier own households, yet they will let a women dictate to them as leader of this nation? they're salivating over her. mccain's lost my vote. there's no way i can in good conscience vote for him now, not even with nose plugged. i'm changing to an independent and writing in romney/thompson on the ticket.
God's will?
Submitted on August 30th, 2008 by Anonymoussomeone tell me how God would want a woman with a 4 month old baby with special needs to choose career over family. modern day "christian" women want it all , don't they? even if it goes against scripture. God didn't want women usurping authority over men in church... because it then minimizes the God given authority of men. now take that authority outside of church, and what you get are tv commercials that make the women superior to men and make the men seem like idiots who can't think for themselves. that's a sign of our moral decline. it's not Gods way. not the REAL God of the Bible anyway. let the real Christ come back soon and let judgment fall upon the earth, soon.

I suggest you at least get to know a bit more about Palin.
Don't defend Pandering choice
Submitted on August 29th, 2008 by praetorianLess than two years as a governor makes one experienced in nothing. The very reason one should not vote for Obama generates disgust for this choice if one is not a partisan. She has a four month child with special needs. She should be taking care of that baby instead of being one small step from the White House. Oh McCain "et tu, Brute?"
you wait!
Submitted on August 29th, 2008 by John 2000Do not underestimate this remarkable person.
Hold On
Submitted on August 29th, 2008 by tomcatin4uWhat would you rather have. Inexpereince in the drivers seat or the Copilot.
Also Governors have more Expereince in dealing with the Agents they Govern. They are the states = to President.
Also history show's us that some of the BEST PRESIDENT'S were Governor's first. Like Reagen and others.
I for one feal McCain made not only a good choice. But a Political, Stategic, Correct choice.
Although I to was blown away by the news.
Don't discount without research
Submitted on August 29th, 2008 by TreeTopFlyerAs I have stated before, I didn't know of anything that could make me vote for either McCain or Obama...but none of us saw this coming-and I could, now, change my mind.
Don't discount her without looking at her. She has more executive experience then anyone on either ticket AND has plenty of foreign policy experience because Alaska is closer to Canada and Russia than the rest of the USA and deals on an international level every day.
I haven't decided for sure that I will vote this way but this is a huge move in the right direction...especially with McCain's age.
But discounting Gov. Palin without looking at her (only listening to the media talking points) is wrong and reeks of ignorance. I have looked into Obama, McCain and Biden above and beyond the talking points and dislike what I see on every level. That is not true with Gov Palin and if you actually do the research you will find the same.
She is a fighter and a truly independent reformer that also knows what it is like to be a normal person...because she is.
She has cut government waste and truly done the will on the people and subsequently has a 90% approval rate here in Alaska.
Actually look at her record (versus talking points)...it says a lot.
changing vote on VP?
Submitted on August 29th, 2008 by rom12921This is still a McCain / Obama contest. Strange to change vote on VP as the VP don't do much.
Look at what Al Gore came up with in his spare time
