Political junkies waiting to hear who Obama chooses as his veep aren't sitting by the television, radio or computer. Rather, they're keeping cell phones in hand, looking for a text from the junior senator from Illinois.

What's the significance of changing the medium that Obama's campaign is sending its messages? Does this represent campaigns cutting out the professional media middlemen; you can get announcements directly, without having them filtered through reporters, their editors and publications.

Communication between politicians and the public has changed immensely in the last election cycle. This blog is proof of that. But the question is how has it changed?
