Guy Benson thinks so.
As Obamania reached its frenzied pinnacle in March, fully 66 percent of voters 18-29 told pollsters they were "certain" to cast ballots in November. By late July, that figure dropped by a whopping 20 percentage points, with less than half of the youth vote still vowing to go to the polls this fall.
A freshly minted Zogby poll that grabbed headlines by highlighting a dramatic McCain comeback in the overall data also features a fascinating youth vote tidbit: "McCain gained 20% and Obama lost 16% among voters ages 18-29. Obama still leads that group, 49%-38%."
He blames the shift on Obama's flip-flops, wondering how much support Obama will actually draw from youth voters.
How worried should Obama be about the youth vote?

Now-I think-
The parents are talking with their children and the children are listing.
Frankly..

Oh, another thing to keep in mind
Submitted on August 6th, 2008 by John 2000is that college and high schools have been out on Summer break and somewhat freed from the 'liberal' hammer that pounds so generally and relentlessly upon them in classes and out about. These organs will relentlessly fight to re-instill - if not the fervor then at least the vote.
Zogby grabbed the headlines
Submitted on August 6th, 2008 by John 2000It is best to throw it in the waste bin and say "so what"; even if having no doubt the assumptions are true. The question is will O-camp become convinced they really need Hillary to close the deal?
Youth are far from as ignorant as many like to project. It is true they may dream for ideals that many more seasoned have learned to reject. Obama, since his coronation and litany of retractions from every hope of change in the realm of ideal, has along with that snatched away so much of his appeal. Youth is not blind. Once the trust is vanquished it is hard to regain. Each lie begins to become more obvious, more sadly laughed at in the pain of disdain.
Even I'd have been pleased if Obama had been true. Ideals die a hard death even with age.
what youth vote
Submitted on August 6th, 2008 by rom12921The guy, Guy, may be on to something. Usually young people talk a good talk, but don't get out to vote.
McCain leads Obama in receiving funds from retired people (people who vote). That should serve him well.
