WHY WOULD GOD STOP HERE, OR WOULD GOD? POLITICS, ALIENS AND GOD - O MY!
Posted 11 weeks 5 days ago byThere was a blog recently written about other life forms in our great universe and whether or not they existed.I come from the thought form that unless my last name ends in GOD,I don't know for a fact that someone is absolutely right or wrong for that matter when it comes to things such as this, but I am sure open to all possibilities and the explorations that may come.I can share what I beleive and you can see whether it resonates with you, but that is as far as it goes. After that, it is what you make of it, or what you believe in that rings true for you that matters.
There are as many pathways to our chosen beliefs and religions as there are stars in the sky. I have many times looked up into this great universe and have questioned the great plan of GOD.One of the many questions I have pondered in my restless nights of great intense thought was the grand ole question do other life form exist and why do bad things happen to good people.
For someone to make the statement 'I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT ALIEN LIFE FORMS DO NOT EXIST' is pure ignorance because there is more evidence backing up other life forms existence then not. So would GOD stop here with us on Earth? I don't know the answer and have been researching the answer to that question out for a few hours now. I have found many view points on GOD from Christianity to Judism. Everyone seems to know what GOD wants and if I were GOD I would be quite amused. I believe there is a reason for everything even if we don't agree with what GOD does since we really don't know what the bigger picture or greater plan for us all is. Then it all comes down to faith.
We fear most what we don't understand. The idea of alien life forms is possible since this universe is so vast. But, who is to say that there are not universes within universes. It can get really complexed. For us to believe we are the ONLY ONES here is really :::shakin head::: Obama-ish of us LOL!
Which leads into my last question... what does religion have to do with politics and is there a place for it? Frankly, I don't believe there is a place for both. I believe they both stand on their own and part of the problem with this election is the playing of religious heartstrings and testing ones faith on who the greater candidate is.
In ending, whether there are aliens amoung us is really not the question because I believe there are aliens among us living and breathing right now all wrapped up in all sort of disguises. Who knows... maybe Obama himself and Bush are among the many.
How about I stop here and see what you feel about all of this. I am looking forward to your take on this topic, especially Hamiltons ;).

Or more specific how the world will arrive to the end.
The book of revelation is such an item.
I wonder, did you come across one of my brother's blogs on that topic?
He also uses Pablo as we both share a name. His is the first mine is the middle.
He is a doctor of Theology. He writes much on Islamic ideology and how Islam is working to control the world and how the current rise in militant Islam will only get worse not better.
The Other day
Submitted on July 24th, 2008 by John 2000while digging around for stuff relating perhaps to Rom's recent Najis blog I came across a posting somewhere out in the great cyber-galaxy that was arguing strongly that Iran presented a true and almost irrevocable mortal danger to Israel. Multiple times in his discussion he tossed around the words 'eschatology' and various derivatives. Now this is indeed a word I could not really recollect any real familiarity with. This fact annoyed me, and then after looking it up a little while ago, it was like I felt almost shameful for my ignorance given what the word(s) bear. So, maybe you are already in the know, but I offer to you a clear discussion I found on the topic of Eschatology. I found it interesting and informative.
from: "Eschatology," Microsoft® Encarta® Online Encyclopedia 2008
Eschatology
http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_7615...
Although I could only catch a glimpse or two of what the eschatology the alarmed Israeli writer was talking about within the probably skimpy encyclopedic discussion above, I did come away with a clear understanding of what this powerful single word encapsulates.
Sorry, that this might only touch tangentially on the blog discussion, but I thought that it might be a relevant inclusion.

Submitted on July 24th, 2008 by PabloGenerally speaking religion can be important in the political arena only in so far as understanding the belief and character of the person and on what level of morality or set of rules that they may display in the judgements that they have.
With that said, you have people who claim to be religious who are not. There are those who claim christianity who do not practice it or abide by the requirements of the religion.
But its a starting point to understand the person's thought processes as to how they would deal with huge decisions and solutions to major problems.
Example: Abortion. If you know what kind of religious back ground and how they acted in that area would define how that person would make decisions on that topic.
Just because a person says they are christian does not automatically mean they are pro choice.
But knowing what their theological background is helps define how a person defines their core personal belief system which all humans have. We all define ourselves within a Theological ideology!
Some look to a God or many gods. Others look to themselves or to science. It really depends on what that persons belief systems is done.
Most people hate responsibility and never want to take responsibility for their actions. Those actions done today may not show up as reality until years later.
Like the people who smoke for years and then they get cancer and they wonder why they got cancer.
Most people even those who are christians and born again do not always want to look into their own trash to see the cause and effect of decisions made.
Who do I blame for a bad things that happened to me. Do I blame God? Blame myself for making poor decisions or was it just something random?
For myself, there is only really three possible answers for why bad things happen to good people or to children.
1. Bad choices of the parents or others which have a direct effect either over time or one time.
2. bad personal choices of the person
Like a person knowing they should not go out on an icy day and they do it anyway and break a leg or neck.
3. Pure accident. Simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Which honestly fits the choices area but some times its just something that happens.
Jesus was asked once what sins those who had a tower fall on them had committed. Jesus said none. It was pure accident.
Yet Jesus also said actions have consequences.
Be each person arrives at these deep areas through their personal belief systems. Knowing how that personal belief system was created is a window into knowing what the person will do in making the hard choices they face.
So that is the only thing that religion should play within the political arena. The founding fathers of theis country got it right. Religion is important for the morality of the individual but the government must be religeously blind!
Political Evangelist
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by rom12921"I do believe religion could inspire..." Personally, I've found that to be true. I am more generous, accepting, tolerant and believe-it-or-not less aggressive (see below) since studying and trying to comprehend spiritual lessons.
So if my personality has been changed, then why wouldn't my political behavior? Makes sense from an individual to a collective, but does it work the other way around...OBAMA!
Confession. I am often intentionally combative in my remarks to try to stir some debate. Trying to make it more spirited and fun for all.
As shared before
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by Skye RiversMadame Blavatsky is remarkable. Her teachings consuming, intoxicating and well written for even the layman. She is one of the women I would have loved to meet and sit with over tea.
As far as duality goes, John is right again.
As above, so below. There has to be a balance in everything. You can't have light and no darkness. Understand. It's the cycle of life. If you take the number eight and hold it sideways, it becomes a wheel of such. That is the sign of infinity. We are all infinite beings; spiritual beings to be exact having a human experience. What happened when we entered Earth, and how we forgot we where came from, I do not have the answer to, but if you take a step back and breath in the moment and close your eyes, and sit still for a moment, that is what being in the NOW feels like and that is where all infinite possibilities lie.
Someone said below that politics and religion do play off each other. Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how they are placed. If they are placed as it was between Obama and his minister from Hell, then I would say it was not a good placement. If they are placed where there truly is something to believe in, change we can trust, faith in the person about to run our country, then I do believe religion could inspire the political arena of which it is intended to enhance. Thoughts?
Duality
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by rom12921I had a truck like that once.
Seems Ecclesiastes goes over some of that type of thinking (the Byrds song turn, turn, turn). I suppose the Christian Bible is full of duality in contrasting human/divine, good/evil, wise/foolish (Proverbs) and in many parables.
So long as we are mentioning
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by John 2000So long as we are mentioning other interesting sources of possible insights and reflections etc, I must once again at least mention two remarkable books written by a famous 'theosophist' from bygone days named HP Blavatsky. These books impressed me deeply many years ago and are titled 'The Secret Doctrine' and 'Isis Unveiled'. I am inclined to revisit them again myself to compare my current perceptions with those of my years past.
Perhaps Skye's brief reference to 'duality' can be expanding some by a link such as:

Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by rom12921What exactly do you mean about duality? Not sure about that, but I have come to the same conclusion- we do have free will.
John 2000 - enjoyed the link very much. I have read most of the Biblical acounts mentioned on the main page, but had not seen some of the artwork. Thank you.
Yes I do have some thoughts
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by Skye Riversquickly then will come back to other links... but Rom... we all have free will. We come into this world an empty canvas and a bunch of GOD crayons. We are the director, producer, artist, actor/actress and editor of the movie called 'Our Life." I believe everything has a duality. You can't have LIGHT and no SHADOW. The great Omnipresence GOD did not miss a beat when creating the creation of ALL THAT IS.
THEREFORE, if that is the case... wouldn't then whatever is possible is possible - where there is good there is evil, where there is laughter there is tears, where there is right there are wrongs and so on?
I could go on and on, but need to run... thoughts?
I suggest;

Skye is right about "...name
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by rom12921Skye is right about "...name ending in God." I've found many of my ideas about how things are have been clarified or corrected by scripture. Bible/Torah would be relevent texts to Judeo-Christian God.
Referring to the text seems to be the best way to get an idea of the nature of God, the nature of man and develop expectations of what is to come.
Regarding 'why do bad things happen to good people?'... John 9,1-3 Jesus gives some insight.
Bigger picture, since God's nature(Numbers 23:19, James 1:13,Psalm 11:7)is free from sin and man's nature (Gen 3, Romans 3:23)is sinful, it seems God can prevent evil but would have to do away with us. If we exist, then so does evil.
We are free to pursue our desires (we get what we ask for) or accept Christ and God's ways. Comes down to My will be done vs Thy will be done.
Thoughts?
Yes DCook, but!
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by HamiltonGod gave his chosen people the Ten Commandments and many other laws and rules to live by. Then he gave the rest of us his only Son. For us; the only demand is to accept the Prince of peace and love as our Lord and Savior. Through Jesus we can all have eternal life and happiness. There are no other demands from the Father; he has placed salvation in the hands of the Son.
It’s easy and fun, live through Christ, and love each other as he loves us. Sure there is still sin, heck, I’m at the beach this week and I can promise that I’ve certainly been enjoying Gods’ work. He is a master craftsman and bless the Man who invented the bikini. My robust appreciation of Gods’ handiwork might sometimes border on sinful.
Anyway, there are other life forms either from space or another dimension. What an interesting day when visitors decide we’ve matured enough for them to say hi.

DC and all.
Submitted on July 23rd, 2008 by Skye RiversGood points on GOD's demands and suggestions.
Why bad things happen to good people? I once went on a quest to find that very answer out. I even found a book entitled 'Why Bad Things Happen To Good People' by Harold Kushner. It is in it's 20th Year Edition. Accordingly to Amazon.com's Publisher's weekly review:
Rarely does a book come along that tackles a perennially difficult human issue with such clarity and intelligence. Harold Kushner, a Jewish rabbi facing his own child's fatal illness, deftly guides us through the inadequacies of the traditional answers to the problem of evil, then provides a uniquely practical and compassionate answer that has appealed to millions of readers across all religious creeds. Remarkable for its intensely relevant real-life examples and its fluid prose, this book cannot go unread by anyone who has ever been troubled by the question, "Why me?"
Now, I did read this book years ago and found I was no closer to the answer then I was before reading it. That may have been Kushners way of just presently different examples as to why but never how come they actually do happen, because there are no real answers was the bottom line. Things just happen. The book was an amazing read I have to say.
What I can share, just from 'my own life experience and knowledge' and what one thought form is on this subject is that depending on where you are on your beliefs, one example would be how karma plays a role in each experience and life cycle.
For instance, if you have done something horrible in a past life, you will pay for it in the next one. Sort of like what you sow you shall reap. If you murder someone in a past life, you then in this one will experience what that was like in this life.
I am not sure I believe that.
Here is an example that really hits home for me. Again, I must preface this by saying, for all I know I know nothing...
It seems 'to me' that the richest, greediest people are the ones that have it all 'or so we think.' Completely unattached to reality. The ones who suffer the most are the poor and needy, and those who are continually struggling to get ahead. Why do bad things happen to good people? Why was there a holocaust and all those innocent jews killed? Was it karmic and something that they all had to experience to further their life experience and if so why? How about all those that suffer in Darfur and the ones that suffered in Katrina and so on? Were they all experiencing the same group life lesson to move on? IF so, move on to where? Where are we all going? Are ants a good example of who we are in the bigger scope of things?
No one can write in and say for FACT that the above is or is not truth because for someone to profess they know, I would run the other way because they are not GOD, which then goes back to what GOD's plan is for us all. We don't know that answer, though many profess they do know.
I leave you with the thought of this.
All we have is this moment. Enjoy it. I still struggle with this one myself. Every morning I get up and look at my 2.5 tea cup poodle. I call her my bag of life. I know at some point she will not be with me down the road, maybe ten years top. I can worry about that time coming, or I can enjoy her every day she walks with me on my journey called life and thank GOD for her gifting my life with such joy. Maybe we can stop and smell the roses more than we do, and regardless of what thorns may come our way in the process and they will come, and sometimes prickle us to bleed, don't sweat the small stuff, only the big stuff and even then, know that there is a larger presence around us watching over us, protecting us and keeping us safe in the larger scope of things, even though we may not understand it at the time.
One thing - I would like to honor John 2000 for his thought below. He broad sided me to tears. I would suggest it be read and reread and passed on to all those you know and love. It is such a great reminder of LIFES' meaning. Thank you again John.
Blessings and I look forward to hearing back your comments. Skye

Here is a pleasing interview with God from 2004
Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by John 2000by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
The Interview With God
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
"So you would like to interview me?" God asked.
"If you have the time" I said.
God smiled. "My time is eternity."
"What questions do you have in mind for me?"
"What surprises you most about humankind?"
God answered...
"That they get bored with childhood,
they rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again."
"That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health."
"That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present,
such that they live in neither
the present nor the future."
"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived."
God’s hand took mine
and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked...
"As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons
you want your children to learn?"
"To learn they cannot make anyone
love them. All they can do
is let themselves be loved."
"To learn that it is not good
to compare themselves to others."
"To learn to forgive
by practicing forgiveness."
"To learn that it only takes a few seconds
to open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them."
"To learn that a rich person
is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."
"To learn that there are people
who love them dearly,
but simply have not yet learned
how to express or show their feelings."
"To learn that two people can
look at the same thing
and see it differently."
"To learn that it is not enough that they
forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves."
"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"Is there anything else
you would like your children to know?"
God smiled and said,
"Just know that I am here... always."
Nicely put Hamilton. You

I believe!
Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by HamiltonI believe God created all things. Those we can see and those we cannot. God created things we can understand and those things we do not understand; that means all the stars and planets and yes other forms of intelligent life. I also believe that there is need, in every walk of life, for God, that includes politics. “Love thy neighbor” or “do unto others” works for everyone especially politicians. God doesn’t expect us, he desires us, God doesn’t demand of us, he hopes for us…at least my God does.
I missed you guys, all of you!

Men in Black
Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by rom12921"Who knows... maybe Obama himself and Bush are among the many"
Reminds me of the movie. I like the non-chalant attitude of the government workers (men in black) in the movie. Just another day keeping aliens in check. Mundane and predictable.
Doesn't the 2nd movie start w/Tommy Lee Jones character as a postal worker?
