Posted 24 weeks 5 days ago byAn interesting case is developing out of Minnesota: Six Muslim factory workers have filed a religious discrimination complaint after their employer, a tortilla factory, allegedly forced them to wear pants and shirts -- clothing that's outside traditional Islamic dress code.
To what extent does an employer have the right to make employees conform to a dress code?

Windows Vista won't boot on Dell Dimension

Windows vista is also causing lots of boot issues, so I often get questions like this:
I have a Dell Dimension, which won’t boot to Windows (Vista), and none the repair options work:
Startup repair: Reports fix fail due to problem with registry
System Restore: Reports no restore points available
Windows Complete PC Restore: Reports no backups available
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool: No memory problems
Command Prompt.
Can’t think of any appropriate command to use here.
So I booted with the system DVD (as one would with XP) but the upgrade
option has been greyed don’t want to do a new install. I want to fix existing
installation.
What should I do?

So here is the answer:
You can't do a 'repair install' because you need to launch the Vista DVD
from within Windows, not, as you have been doing, booting straight from the
DVD; that is why the 'upgrade' is greyed out.
If you cannot launch Vista and none of the repair options will work a clean
install is the only other variant.
To save problems in future it is actually a good idea to image the hard
drive, using program like True Image. What I do is install operating system, download all updates, check system I working okay for a day or two, activate system, then image the drive/partition. Any time I get a problem I can re-image the drive/partition quickly and be up and running without much inconvenience. And minor fixes are done by using any registry fix utility, there are plenty of them on the market today.

Landing in Spain, he ordered the Muslim forces' boats to be burned, and then told his soldiers: "Brothers in Islam! We now have the enemy in front of us and the deep sea behind us. Does the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy represent the same idea for those who founded it and now operate it?"

Perhaps Minnesota is being seen as a land ripe for conquest. After all, they voted for Ventura for governor and now have goof-ball Al Franken as their 'democratic' candidate for US Senate. Being right on the border with Canada could be an interesting point to explore.

Many, if not most, of these people have no interest in blending in with, or even tolerating, the cultures they come into contact with.
PRIVATE BUSINESS

I am sick of the government telling people how to run their own business.
But the way things are going, the owner of a health food store has to hire a morbidly obese person of face suit. A heavy manual labor company has to hire a 98 pound wimp or face suit. A religious organization has to hire a gay, transvestite, prostitute stripper or face suit.
At some point in the past the government decided they knew better how to run our lives than we do. Now we are reaping the consequences.
What is really sad is that these folks will probably win. And when their flowing dress gets caught in the machinery and one of them is hurt or killed, the employer will be sued for the injury because he or she has a dangerous work environment. Then they will probably lose everything, putting the rest of the employees out of work.
And that is just one more reason companies are moving out of the country.

Behavior is generally one of them and if that happens to include a dress code then the person can either conform or always has the FREEDOM to refuse the job or quit if they are already employed.

A tortilla factory is a food processing operation and there are codes already in place in regards to the sanitary handling of the product. Generally some sort of hair cover and gloves are required.
At my woodworking facility everyone wears pants/shorts and a shirt, sturdy shoes, eye protection and a respirator when needed. Loose clothing like robes or dresses are considered dangerous as they may get tangled in the equipment and cause injury. Employees are informed of this the day they are hired.
I don't see it as a signal ...

Do you suppose there aren't dress codes and the like in muslim owned businesses?
How about traveling to Arabia and the like where there are such codes applied just for being in public?

Submitted on May 28th, 2008 by rom12921Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination for alot of protective classes. That is why these 6 have a case. They were singled-out because of religion (religious custom).
So,we are not like the Taliban or other oppressive governments as the (alleged) actions of the company are violating the law.
On the other hand, if a policy applies to all employees- dress code, unifroms, etc it does not discriminate.
And I thought Business Law was a waste of time...

People should be able to wear whatever they want. Otherwise we are becoming, in a sense, like Afghanistan's Talibans and they oppresive dress code for women ( the burka).

Submitted on May 28th, 2008 by rom12921Employer has every right to insist on a dress code as long as it applies to all employees. Many people wear uniforms or safety equipment for their jobs. The employer could require uniforms, start a dress code instead of singling-out a few workers.
