10% of Americans think Sen. Obama is a Muslim.
Posted 30 weeks 2 days ago bySenator Obama is not a Muslim, but a recent and disturbing survey found that 10% of Americans beleive he is.
The facts first: Senator Obama's father was a Muslim from Kenya, his stepfather was a Muslim as well. Senator Obama middle name is Hussein. Senator Obama is a Christian and has being going to the same church for the last 20 years.
The real question is this: Are the people peddling the smear campain GOP's operatives or just fringe conspiracy theorists? The fringe, border line insane, conspiracy theory go like this ( I will not quote them but you can read them even on redblueamerica):" Senator Obama is a secret Muslim planning to take over the US for Islam, and he is also (for good measure)......the Anti-Christ."
The smear campain is helped by the fact that only 34% of Americans have a positive view of Islam as opposed to 74% with a positive opinion of the Jewish faith.

moveon
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by John 2000Mercy,
thanks for your take on moveon, Soros.
Anonymous - and yes there is not shortage of mad raving 'Christians' - indeed.
There can be raving mad Christians as well.
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by AnonymousHe is a Christian, and his pastor is controversial. He does have an unusual middle name, but that does not make him a Muslim by any means.
The fact that 10% of people in the US think he is a muslim is concerning, but not that concerning. It's the same 10% of right wingers that still worship Bush even though he's turned into the biggest disaster in my lifetime of 40 years.
moveon world?
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by MercyphotographyDear John,
First of all, I have nothing to do with the moveon folks...I do have some respect for Mr. Soros but their positions on numerous issues are quite a bit too simplistic and monolithic for my taste.
The wild assumptions of " blowing up the levees " in New-Orleans, peddled by Director Spike Lee( among other people) fall in the very same BS conspiracy theory, as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for taking a look at my photojournalist web site, and yes some of my photographs have made it into various newspapers and magazines worldwide in the late 1970's and the early 80's when I was based in Europe. However, I am more interested in internet diffusion at the moment.
Regards.
good
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by John 2000I am glad to hear your response regarding wacko conspiracy theories. I confess that it was a fishing expedition on my part. I do know that quite a few in the moveon world cling to such theories whether they really believe them or not. (not referring to the Katrina stuff)
One question: How do you parse 'the chickens coming home to roost'?
btw, I have viewed many of your photographs. They are quite good. Have any made it into the 'mass media'?
Conspiracy theory.
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by MercyphotographyDear John 2000,
Senator Obama knows very well where he stands on issues of Faith.
I think that " conspiracy theorists " of all stripes have paranoiac tendencies and need some help as far as mental health.
This goes for the lunatics claiming that the US government was directly invloved in 9/11 as well as the crazy rants of Rev. Hagee stating that " God punished New-Orleans with Katrina for its sins"
claims to be christian
Submitted on April 20th, 2008 by John 2000fine, then he must be christian.
why does his christian minister sound so much like the raving mullahs in some mosques?
Do you think that American government was directly involved with 9/11?, or do you hold to the more moderate belief that it was merely chickens coming home to roost?
Personally, I don't think Obama knows what he is.
