What is true patriotism?
Posted 33 weeks 3 days ago byToday, Daniel Schorr, the veteran NPR news analyst was reflecting on this issue.
On one hand, we have our lame ducks and " chicken hawks" avoiding to fight in Vietnam, when they had the opportunity to do so. Bush Jr. was in the National Guard ,thanks to his father, but never on the battle field, and Dick Cheney avoided the draft 5 times.
On the other hand, the man accused of not been a patriot was in the Marines in 1963.....his name is Reverend Wright.
With all do respect, Mr. President, it takes more to be a patriot than to display an American flag pin on your suits.....just ask patriots such as Senator Hagel, Senator Kerry or Senator Mc Cain.

But their gas, utilities and food costs have risen just like the rest of us.

Exploiting the virtue of youngsters who love their country, and admirably are willing to put their lives on the line to defend it,is the most despicable element of the neo-con war in Iraq.
Only a sociopath can sleep at night knowing that idealistic troops are dying because of the nationalistic fervor stoked by the right wing press, be it FOX, talk(blabber) radio, or the National Review and other right wing rags.
If Bush,Cheney,Kristol,Windbaugh and the rest of the warmongers are representative of Christianity,and their ilk will be in Heaven, send me anywhere but that Heaven.

Submitted on April 14th, 2008 by Anonymousit is commendable that he served in the forces.. but no amount of good in the past can erase the harm this man does now with his doctrine of racism and hate mongering..spewing anti-semetic and anti-American venom.. and blaming all whites for the problems of the blacks.. hence the statements about hiv and 911.. and now we know he taught that doctrine over 20 years to Obama who is trying to pretend he is the new messiah.. when in fact in his heart is this same racism and hate for whites.. how can they possibly equate this with his ability to run for the presidency.. He has no right to expect us to think he is a balanced or fair minded individual nor one that has the integrity, good judgement or personal characteristics to be the president.
