Katrina's Graffiti
Posted 39 weeks 2 days ago byKatrina's graffiti tell a story of fear, frustration and anger.
Beside the officials one from the various government agencies, most of them are individual expression of despair or paranoia.
The incompetent management of the aftermath of Katrina could reshape the political map of the South ( Specially the Gulf Coast).
It is likely that the GOP will pay a dear price for the fiasco if the Democrats keep Katrina in voter's mind during the 2008 elections cycle.

Not a valid argument.
Submitted on March 15th, 2008 by MercyphotographyThe blade rest mainly on fed failures:
1- The Army corp did a terrible job in maintaining the levees.
2- FEMA was run by the political appointee Brown, he was completely incompetent to run FEMA or anything else for that matter.
The blame is mostly on the Feds.

Mayor Nagin is to blame
Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by AnonymousMost of the blame in the Katrina fiasco belong to Nagin and state level...it's to easy to put all the blame on Bush.
Regardless, great photo essay.

Great photo essay...
Submitted on March 6th, 2008 by AnonymousGreat ( yet disturbing) images. Shame on us for not doing more for the reconstruction of New-Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
Thanks.
Very good point.
Submitted on March 5th, 2008 by AnonymousAnonymous, you are perfectly correct. The Army Corps was in charge of the levee system and did a very bad job in even basic maintenance.
Furthermore, the FEMA of Bush Jr. was under the " command" of incompetent Brown....not at all the FEMA of Bill Clinton or Bush Sr.

Different than Earthquakes
Submitted on March 4th, 2008 by AnonymousThis was caused by a lack of federal funding for the levy systems - which were maintained by the army corps of engineers - not a state agency. The slow and inept response by the federal government after the hurricane only made things worse.
Mayor of New-Orleans.
Submitted on March 3rd, 2008 by MercyphotographyHe does like media attention but, I would say,in his defense, that changing the way business is done in New-Orleans is difficult. At least, he is trying.

don't leave out the city gov.
Submitted on March 3rd, 2008 by AnonymousMayor Ray Nagle or whatever his name is, is just plain incompetent. All he cares about is being cooooooool!
Plenty of incompetence to be shared.
Submitted on March 3rd, 2008 by MercyphotographyI think there is plenty of incompetence to be shared in the matter; not only at Federal level ( FEMA), but also for the State of Louisiana and the City of New-Orleans.
You have a point, the blame should not go only to the Federal Administration.

Ridiculous. I live in
Submitted on March 3rd, 2008 by praetorianRidiculous. I live in California...earthquake country and we have always recovered because our STATE government has always been prepared. New Orleans is the result of incompetent state government...period.
